Cast and Extras Blog From Utah Day 5

Yesterday's filming had to be one of the toughest days for the cast and extras. Not because of the heat from the Utah desert, but because of the live snakes on set!

My favorite part was when I was pretending to sleep and the snake was like, right next to me.

- Talon Ackerman, Benjamin, young boy in Jewish Camp

I really savor playing a Biblical “shero”.  I did learn – through mistake however – that bonding with the serpent before pummeling it is not prudent.  Also Talon and I connected through sharing emotional trigger stories (favorite pets dying – Sharky the fish and Boo my golden retriever). Great/Superb crew, director and producers!!!! Thank you!!!

- Renee Casati, Snake-bit mother in Jewish Camp

Cast and Extras Blog From Utah Day 3

Hear about some pretty miraculous things that happened on set during filing on Friday. Also, another unexpected quest drops in. Be sure to read about the experience Buddy had!

On location in Utah: It’s the scene where the anguished Abraham (Dean Jones) raises the knife over his beloved son Isaac (Parker Hadley) to sacrifice him in obedience to God.  As he thrusts the knife at Isaac, according to the scriptures, and God’s speaks Abraham, Abraham... Suddenly, yes suddenly as if on cue... A blinding white light came out of the heavens — out of the silver sunset.  And everyone on the set was stunned.  Not one missed it – lest anyone should doubt!  God showed up!  I wish you all could have been there.

- Lory Basham Jones, (Mrs. Dean Jones)

This has been an amazing experience.  I have cherished and loved every moment of it.  I would have to say my favorite part was getting to know Dean Jones.  My favorite scene was the one where I ALMOST got sacrificed.  It took lots of emotion and feeling.  I would like to say thanks to everyone who put this together.  I enjoyed every minute if it.  Keep it REAL!

- Parker Hadley, Isaac

Cast and Extras Blog From Utah Day 2

Another day of filming is in the books. Read what the cast and extras had to say after the first day of filming in the desert.

Also, you will hear from a very special cast member named Gladys, you don't want to miss what she had to say!

I truly love having the opportunity to work on productions that reach a broad audience and touch lives all over the world.  This project has been a blessing from the beginning.  From the wonderful crew in Orlando to Utah, God has made His hand in every moment.  I can not wait to see what it (short films) does and how it touches the world.

- Kasey Brennan, Orlando Unit Producer/Script Supervisor

Love working on period pieces.  I’m doing the hair and beard work here.  Challenging today to make sure they don’t blow off and end up in South Carolina due to the high winds!  Hope everyone enjoys the stories and that they mean something to each.

- Greg Moun, Hair/Beard Artist

It is always fun to dress actors in period clothing, on location and watch the transformation to biblical times.  Makes me grateful for modern conveniences.  I love period projects and enjoy working on the set. Plus, these mountains and vistas make for wonderful shots!

Cast and Extras Blog From Utah Day 1

Do you ever wonder what goes through the minds of cast and extras as they act out epic stories told in Scripture? Read what they have to say in their own words...

I saw the scripture come alive.  I experienced the moment of worship between Abram and God Most High.  It was a great adventure and lots of fun!

- Martha Wagner, woman in celebration in King’s tent

Meeting Dean Jones was such a treat.  He’s been one of my favorite actors for years.  And getting to see him play the legendary Abraham was amazing. Unforgettable. Absolutely unforgettable.

- Stephen Aldridge, Production Assistant

I like my dad being the film producer because he let’s me be in the movies.

- Luke Bentley, young captive rescued by Abram’s men

Cast and Extras Blog

The short films project would not be possible without the excellent cast and extras. Here are a few of their thoughts after day 1.

It is amazing how God’s people gathered from far and near to honor Him.  The Gospel can be spread in so many different venues.  May God Bless these films as they teach and explain the Great Commission.

- Bob & Gail Leitzel, Cast

I love this time in the acting process when you are getting make-up and costumes on.  There is often a length of time where you sit around and wait, I think it gives you a chance to relax and reflect on the project you are working on.  I feel very honored to be a part of Crown’s short film process and I can’t wait to start!
