Utah Day 6
This is my third day on set, it’s also my last day. On the first day we were on the sound stage and I met Dean Jones. He was so kind to me and we had great chemistry. We got a laugh when at one moment he looked at me in the scene and referred to me as “not Lot”. On our second day we filmed our meaty scenes and the sunset was beautiful as I close to go east (Lot was greedily looking to prosper further). What a blessing to have the means to make these films. I pray that lives will be touched and blessings will flow from the hard work and talent put forth with Crown and the Erwin Brothers. I am so grateful to be a part of these great projects.
- Michael Buster, Lot
This has been a beautiful shoot! Beautiful in a couple ways: the people (cast, crew, etc.) and the scenic views. One of the most easy going sets I have been on. I will always from this point on, use the crucifixion scene as my motivation for sadness when I do any other scene that calls fro sadness.
- Darren Fromal, Extra
Today was another exciting day... brown sheep, brown sheep, brown sheep... I just love herding the sheep on these movie sets but someday I’ll get my break to be the star. How hard can it be to walk along side the extras... chase white goat, chase white goat, chase white goat... and pretend to be back in Biblical times. Stare down the chubby black goat... move sheep back into lines... Get treat from trainer... This is the life!.
- Sundance Kid, Border Collie working with livestock wrangler
The professionalism and camaraderie on this set is unequalled. In fact, better than some of the big name studios we have worked with. I think the Erwin brothers will be outstanding producers and directors. Loved working with everyone the set.
- Fenton Quinn, Animal Wrangler
We have sure enjoyed preparing the meals for cast, crew, and extras. We love seeing their brown, sunburned faces standing in line for food to get them through another six hours. Everyone has been so friendly, kind, complimentary. It is fun to talk with those involved to hear about who they are, where they are from and how they became a part of this movie shooting. Thanks to everyone! Ya’ll are awesome!
- Elaine Porter, Head Caterer, Landmark II
Utah Day 5
Really, the worst part of it wasn’t the heat or the sun or the snake crawling on me. The worst part was the make up! I hope my part as a soldier will need less make up.
- Coleman Proser, Corpse #1 who died of snake bite
My favorite part was when I was pretending to sleep and the snake was like, right next to me.
- Talon Ackerman, Benjamin, young boy in Jewish Camp
I really savor playing a Biblical “shero”. I did learn – through mistake however – that bonding with the serpent before pummeling it is not prudent. Also Talon and I connected through sharing emotional trigger stories (favorite pets dying – Sharky the fish and Boo my golden retriever). Great/Superb crew, director and producers!!!! Thank you!!!
- Renee Casati, Snake-bit mother in Jewish Camp
I really enjoy working on projects that have so much more meaning than just “entertainment”. Pure entertainment has a great place and I’m not against it... But to work on a project that has a more important and far reaching purpose is wonderful.
- S. Kelly Johnson, Extra
Looking out over the valley, picturing it filled with the children fo Israel bitten and dying, crying out to God brought to mind the compassion Moses must have had for the people. It was a recognition for me of all the times I have cried out against the Lord and the times He has loved me even when I am not lovable.
- Doug Whitley, Moses
Today was an extremely powerful day. I was selected as a “mocker” in the crowd at the crucifixion. In the rehearsal I could only utter but a sentence before the power of the scene overpowered me and I couldn’t even move my lips to make a word, and my knees almost gave way. I was brought even closer to the power of this point in time and will never forget this opportunity.
- Spencer Eyring, Extra
Utah Day 4
Within the first minute (literally) of being on set I was touched... By a sharp shard of glass embedded in my ring toe. Luckily I was given some “period” sandals which provided me with ample pain all over my feet so that helped cheer me up. :-) Then I was stepped on by a donkey (Gladys was her name), she’s stubborn as a mule... Blisters, sunburn, blood and burrows aside, this has been amazing. It’s all a small price to pay for the spreading of the Word. I would do it all over in a heartbeat. Though I could use some of that “foot washing” I’ve read so much about. Joking aside, it’s been great. The cast, the crew, the scenery. Thank you and God bless.
- Charles Halford, Abraham’s “Wingman”
Being a part of this project has been a blast. I’ve met so many great people from all over. I love working on projects that help encourage faith and hope; even if I’m the character with out it! Maybe next time I’ll get to turn into salt. :-)
- Christina Torriente, Lot’s Wife
One thing I loved was how nice and caring everyone was! So great! Another thing was all the great food. It was fun that my step mom was Lot’s Wife, I got a lot more opportunities to watch how they do things and she had a trailer so I was kept warm. It was just all so fun and great! Thank you so much for everything.
- Forest Robey, Teen Extra
I have to agree that the shoes could improve in the comfort area, and maybe the sun could shine less. But it’s been great. Having lunch at 10:00 pm is a very interesting experience. Wardrobe and make up was very fun, my family hardly recognized me. Making bible stories come to life is so cool, a great way to spread God’s Word. Some advice to future extras; draw a smiley face where you have to stand, otherwise you’ll never remember where you were! Great experience.
- Hannah Survance, Teen Extra
It’s been fun being an extra and it’s so funny seeing people all dressed up like Bible people drinking out of soda cans and driving cars!
- Sarah Survance, 11 Year Old Extra
My favorite thing about being an extra in a movie is having fun and meeting new people. I love acting as an extra.
- Clayton Survance, 9 Year Old Extra
I left make up a little late and was one of the last extras to show up on set. When I went to props, they gave me nothing: not a staff, not a basket, not even a “good luck”. When I arrived to meet the rest of the cast empty handed, they handed me a donkey and put me out front. Good things come to those who are late.
- Joshua Mayer, Newbie Extra
Utah Day 3
Great opportunity to share the gospel. Happy Birthday to granddaughter Emily from Utah!
- Don Decker, Background Extra
On location in Utah: It’s the scene where the anguished Abraham (Dean Jones) raises the knife over his beloved son Isaac (Parker Hadley) to sacrifice him in obedience to God. As he thrusts the knife at Isaac, according to the scriptures, and God’s speaks Abraham, Abraham... Suddenly, yes suddenly as if on cue... A blinding white light came out of the heavens — out of the silver sunset. And everyone on the set was stunned. Not one missed it – lest anyone should doubt! God showed up! I wish you all could have been there.
- Lory Basham Jones, (Mrs. Dean Jones)
This has been an amazing experience. I have cherished and loved every moment of it. I would have to say my favorite part was getting to know Dean Jones. My favorite scene was the one where I ALMOST got sacrificed. It took lots of emotion and feeling. I would like to say thanks to everyone who put this together. I enjoyed every minute if it. Keep it REAL!
- Parker Hadley, Isaac
Yesterday was a tough day. I was simply sunning myself on a rock when someone stepped too close and I reacted by coiling and striking out. Next thing I knew, some man named Fenton the Wrangler grabbed me around the neck and put me in a jar. Sounds like they have plans to use me as a “background snake” along with the “actor snakes” on Monday. Sure hope I get a chance for a close up again!
- Buddy, 5’ Bull Snake captured on set
Utah Day 2
I truly love having the opportunity to work on productions that reach a broad audience and touch lives all over the world. This project has been a blessing from the beginning. From the wonderful crew in Orlando to Utah, God has made His hand in every moment. I can not wait to see what it (short films) does and how it touches the world.
- Kasey Brennan, Orlando Unit Producer/Script Supervisor
Love working on period pieces. I’m doing the hair and beard work here. Challenging today to make sure they don’t blow off and end up in South Carolina due to the high winds! Hope everyone enjoys the stories and that they mean something to each.
- Greg Moun, Hair/Beard Artist
It is always fun to dress actors in period clothing, on location and watch the transformation to biblical times. Makes me grateful for modern conveniences. I love period projects and enjoy working on the set. Plus, these mountains and vistas make for wonderful shots!
- Becky Swasey, Wardrobe
I love an opportunity to bring history to life. When that history is scripture, makes the experience more meaningful, and my talents are magnified. Thanks for coming to Utah. As we have made new friends.
- Shari Ohman, Costume Designer
Awesome experience! Cool people, fun, relaxing atmosphere... And the donkey topped it all!
- Oly Nedelou, Background Actor
Even though the actors kept putting bundles of sticks on my back, I did my best to add more emotion and “noise” to my scenes. Just can’t understand why the director fussed at me for doing my part with flare... I behaved better than the sheep! I’m certain Mr. Ed didn’t get this kind of opportunity on the big screen so I intend to keep working hard in the coming days.
- Gladys, Sicilian Donkey
(I was not harmed in the making of this video)
I am an extra in Abraham’s camp. It was cool and the cast is way cool. Can’t wait to come back.
- Robert Stosich, Background Actor
Utah Day 1
I saw the scripture come alive. I experienced the moment of worship between Abram and God Most High. It was a great adventure and lots of fun!
- Martha Wagner, woman in celebration in King’s tent
Meeting Dean Jones was such a treat. He’s been one of my favorite actors for years. And getting to see him play the legendary Abraham was amazing. Unforgettable. Absolutely unforgettable.
- Stephen Aldridge, Production Assistant
I like my dad being the film producer because he let’s me be in the movies.
- Luke Bentley, young captive rescued by Abram’s men
It was great. I enjoyed everything!
- Chad, King Sodom’s Guard
What is movie making? What is making God’s word visual to send to the world? The two connect! What a privilege to be a part of this event!
- Suzi Decker, Extra
This is the first time they have me helping with the cameras. I haven’t broken anything yet.
- Quinten Reiff, 2nd Assistant Camera
It was cool! I got to be a captive. It is a long process.
- John Bentley, young captive rescued by Abram’s men
I was fortunate to be able to work on doing hair and makeup. It is always fun to do period pieces but biblical stories are the best. I had a lot of fun putting on beards and wigs to make everyone look like it is no longer 2008.
- Lindey Crow, Make-Up and Hair Artist
Florida Day 1
It is amazing how God’s people gathered from far and near to honor Him. The Gospel can be spread in so many different venues. May God Bless these films as they teach and explain the Great Commission.
- Bob & Gail Leitzel, Cast
I love this time in the acting process when you are getting make-up and costumes on. There is often a length of time where you sit around and wait, I think it gives you a chance to relax and reflect on the project you are working on. I feel very honored to be a part of Crown’s short film process and I can’t wait to start!
- Colleen Trusler, Cast
They put me in this funny wig. I look like a member of “The Monkees”. Then they gave me a great robe and some nice bling and Wonder Women wrist bands. God Provides.
- Dave Capp, Cast
What a joy to be involved! I came in this morning thinking I was going to just “help out” and now I find myself costumed as a rabbi in the Rich Man and Lazarus story. It was truly amazing to watch the talented make-up crew turn me into a real Jewish Rabbi in just 45 minutes.
- Tom Denton, Crown Volunteer/Cast
An interesting experience. A whole new respect for professional actors! Thanks for the opportunity to be a part of a wonderful production.
- Kathy, Cast
WOW! This is the first time in my life I have put on make-up and yet as I applied it and thought of why I was applying the make-up it became very fun and really helps you get in the right frame of mind.
- Lon Foree, Cast
There are about 20 of us sitting around in dark make-up, visiting. Not only are we part of spreading the Word via film, we’re making friends. Pretty cool. I’m looking forward to seeing how this all ends up!
- Mary Foree, Cast
I’ve got my make-up on! From the knees down I have a nice tan. We put on the make-up ourselves and now I am waiting for a costume. I am excited to be a part of sharing God’s principles about sharing money.
- Lindsey Campbell, Cast
The experience of a lifetime. The excitement is building, we have finished make-up and waiting for costumes. Then over to filming. To be part of this Bible series that will be seen all around the world, for the glory of Christ is awesome.
- Michelle Eddings, Cast
It’s been so much fun! We’re all made up! Everyone’s been very nice. Well, I just got costumed. I feel like I’ve really stepped back in time. Can’t wait for my first scene to start.
- Shannon Campbell, Cast
Florida Day 2
My time being on set is amazing! The short film “Widow and Oil” (that we saw) was great! The picture was great and I know it’s all really cool. It gave a powerful message. Today was fun. The acting and meeting the people, everything seems so real. It’s a lot of fun.
- Chelsea Meaghee, Cast
Again I can be a part of a wonderful production by Crown. The “widow and Oil” was so well done and is a beautiful piece. I am sure these next 5 films will be as well.
- Rita , Cast
Fun Shoot. Most importantly an incredible value to the market. I am so happy I got to be a part.
- Chris K., Cast
My experience here @ Holy Land has been fun! I was playing a servant to the rich. Loved the wardrobe and enjoyed all the talent I worked with today. Being from Orlando, it is my first time being inside the “Holy Land”. Thanks Background Entertainment for the opportunity.
- J.M., Cast
I got to wear a beautiful dress, worn by the Queen’s sister in “One Night with the King”. It was a fun day.
- Elizabeth Armstrong, Cast
